The author proves that the issue of a mutual relation - language and culture - (interested for etnolinguists, culture experts, philosophers and anthropologists) remains one of crucial problems related to teaching Polish as a foreign language. Moreover it is not possible to learn in-depth Polish without taking into consideration various elements of culture expressed in this language.

The book aimed at teaching functional grammar. It consists of 3 parts. The first one is for beginners and introduces basic grammatical problems (phonetics, Polish cases, tenses, numerals, pronouns, prepositions etc.) necessary for understanding the structure of the language and constructing simple and correct statements and phrases.

Both parts of this book - theoretical and practical - have been prepared in two language versions, i.e. Polish and German. Tasks are addressed first of all to beginners although advanced learners may also treat them in a creative way. Discussed topics basically refer to areas characteristic for this teaching level.
